Life happens, laughter happens and laugh lines are the unavoidable result of both. These lines can be caused by repetitive facial movements over time or by genetics, changes in weight, smoking, age, and loss of collagen. Thankfully there are always options to lessen the appearance and how deep they show up on your skin. Although there are more than a handful of different ways to do so, below are our top 5!
1. Exfoliate
Exfoliating increases the production of collagen and cellular turnover which decreases, prevents, and softens the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Be sure to exfoliate at least 2 times per week or as much as your skin type allows for.

2. Use Peptides, Retinol, Collagen or Hyaluronic Acid
We’ve all seen these ingredients being promoted by aestheticians, dermatologists and skin care gurus and it’s for a good reason. All of these work to keep your skin looking as fresh, plump, and smooth as possible. For a quick overview, peptides keep your skin nice and firm by stimulating the production of collagen. Retinol helps stimulate the turnover of skin cells, which also helps with fine lines, wrinkles and a ton of other things. Collagen is the protein responsible for strengthening your skin along with the elasticity of it. And hyaluronic acid helps your skin retain moisture which gives the appearance of hydrated, plump skin. It’s best to consult with your dermatologist about which ingredient is best for you but if you’re the type who loves trying different things out to see what you like most, we have some beauty community favorites for you!

3. Get Your Skin Micro-needled
Microneedling—or collagen induction therapy works to naturally increase the collagen your skin produces which can help “fill in” fine lines. You can try out the treatment with a licensed professional or you can try a few rounds of microneedling patches at home.
111 Skin Meso Infusion Micro Mask $160.00 |
Exuviance HA Micro-Filler Hyaluronic Acid Patches $88.00 |
Peace Out Microneedling Retinol Patches $24.00 |
4. Maybe it’s Time For Some Filler?
For a more immediate result, some opt for hyaluronic acid fillers to literally fill in those laughlines. The results last anywhere from 9 months to 2 years and the cost ranges between $600-$1,500. A dermatologist or licensed aesthetician will be able to give you more info on what type of filler would work best for you and how much of it will be needed.
5. Use a High Frequency Wand
These wands red or violet light to treat acne, sagging skin, along with fine lines and wrinkles. If you’re looking to get rid of or reduce the appearance of fine lines, be sure to purchase the wand that uses violet light (argon) as that one works best for anti-aging purposes.
