Why Cardi B’s Hair Mask Works Wonders

Cardi B shares a little bit of just about everything when it comes to her life so taking on us her hair journey is no different. Wearing wigs and extensions 24/7 can really take a toll on your hair. To balance that out, Cardi B makes a natural hair mask that she attributes to the health and the growth of her natural tresses.

Before & After

What’s in it? Literally things you can grab from your kitchen.

The Recipe:

  • 1 Avocado
  • Argan oil
  • Black castor oil
  • Olive oil (only add if your hair texture isnt fine or thin as this oil can weigh it down)
  • A big scoop of mayonnaise
  • Honey
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Banana (optional)

For the ingredients that don’t have an exact measurement, just eyeball it…kinda like the same way you season your food. It’ll come to you.

Cardi also went on Instagram live to show viewers the process and emphasized blending the mixture to avoid “avocado meat in your hair.” According to her, this classic DIY mask works amazingly well for curly hair, helping it grow and keeping it soft and moisturized. You should keep the mask on for at least 15 minutes but Cardi advises to keep it on for as long as you can. So to be honest, do whatever you feel is right but aim for 15 minutes at the minimum.

Now, how do these ingredients help?

Avocado – Very nourishing and moisturizing due to the fatty acids, vitamins and natural oils
Argan Oil –  Reduces breakage and split ends since it is high in fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamin E
Black Castor Oil – The fatty acids strengthens hair while increasing the growth
Olive Oil – Keeps hair moist and strong
Mayonnaise – Adds shine while promoting hair growth, strengthening strands from root to tip, and reversing any damage from chemicals and heat
Honey – Amazing when it comes to moisturizing since it has humectant and emollient properties. Also restores luster
Egg – A nutrient-rich hair superfood as it nourishes the scalp to promote growth while strengthening strands
Banana – Moisturizes and promotes elasticity of hair

You can apply this mask to your hair as much as once a week or as little as once every few months. But if you’re looking for visible results and a true goal of healthy hair, I’d aim for at least once a month.
