A Makeup Museum Showcasing Marilyn Monroe’s Stash

There’s a museum for just about anything you can think of, aside from makeup. Thankfully in May 2020 that will change because the world’s first Makeup Museum will be opening in New York!

The Makeup Museum will focus on the history of beauty and how it impacts today’s society by exhibiting different entrepreneurs and artifacts.

Their first installation with start with the 1950s since somewhere in that decade is where the makeup industry officially began. They’ll be focusing on one decade at a time and the first one will be titled “Pink Jungle: 1950s Makeup in America”. It will include the iconic Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Greta Garbo and more as well as the makeup trends that took over that era. They’ll also be giving us a look at one of one makeup items and some of those will be personal products from Marilyn and Greta’s classic stash. To tie everything together in a way that relates to us, the museum will be creating a showcase of products that might have been in Marilyn’s beauty stash had Instagram been around when she was. Apparently they have makeup receipts from her so I think this will be really interesting to see.

The museum will be located on 94 Gansevoort Street and will be open for 6 months as this most likely won’t be its permanent space. Want more info?  Sign up for their mailing list on www.makeupmuseum.com

Tickets will be on sale some time in March of 2020, so mark your calendars ♥
